Portable Second Life
Second Life can now be put on your phone, so you csn ALWAYS be connected to your virtual self. This makes me a bit weary. The scenario I am picturing in my head is if you goas far as putting Second Life on perhaps your droid or Iphone, you're pretty addicted to the game, so at home, you are probably sitting in front of the computer for hours on end playing this game. But what about the REAL world, your FIRST life? How about you participate in that for a little.

Civil Rights Movement Reenacted
Now this I find pretty cool, pretty useless, but pretty cool nonetheless. This article speaks about students recreated the Civil Rights movement via Second Life. This makes me think this a a new way to get students involved and interested in History or other subjects. Perhaps they can also recreate Shakespeare plays for English students or even book such as the Great Gatsby. Of course, they have movies for such things, but with the growing virtual world, more teens might be more interested in seeing a virtual version of these things, rather than sitting down for a 2 hour long movie.

Second Life Marvels
So according to this article, Second Life is something pretty amazing. It's apparently undesrible as it enters unto a new platform of social forums and gaming.
It goes on to say that althought Second Life has been around for a whommping eight years, not many people know what it is and it has not gotten a lot of press for this reason. Many people seem to argree with him saying that Second Life is something they arevery interested in and would love to see it expand to be more accesible and something all schools can be able to use.
I see where it could be of use, and where it could be something the majority of people use, but with so many toher ways to socialize without the use of a computer, I also see where it would be able to become this huge network as many people would like to see it.

Dangers of Second Life
As mentioned in my previous blog, Second Life can be frustrating at times, but as I have read in this artile ( http://www.coloradoan.com/article/20110326/WINDSORBEACON1301/103260331), it can also be dangerous.
In the article, a mother says her teen has become basically addicted to this game and she doesn't know what it's really about. The replier says that he found out the teen Second Life site, and the adult Second Life site used to be separated, but now have merged. This would be a BIG warning sign if I was a parent. Now possible pedophiles have mergd with unsuspecting victims. I am probably maing a bigger case for it then it really is, but it could be true. Because of the fact that Second Life is public to all Second Life members and no one really knows who is who behind their avatar, a 16 year old girl could be chatting it up to a 60 year old man who COULD be her next door neighbor and she would never know it.

Secondlife
It's my first semester at FIU, and on the first day of class I attempt to log into my online class. I've taken online classes before, so I thought it would be a breeze. I was proved very, VERY wrong. Apparently, FIU likes to use this program called SecondLife, which is basically the Sims, expect without the cool outfits, relationships, Sim money, and neighborhoods. So not only are you at school IN school, but SecondLife puts you on the FIU campus while at home. I guess teachers think this is great, but my new Dell computer is having issues with the program, and my SecondLife persona was naked for quite some time before I was able to destress and have time to be very patient with it. SecondLife, is essence, is a great thing for online classes. It allows students to interact with each other without the all too boring discussion forums of most online classes. Butbe warned, if you're computer is a bit on the old side, you will probably have to use another computer or join the cult and buy a Mac.

The Day After Valentine's
After all the enjoyable chaos that occurred yesterday ( Valentine's Day ), my work day today just seemed to drag on. In order to make my day tolerable I decided to indulge myself and get something I had been craving for a long time, probably months.....LOS PERROS! The Superperro and papitas francesas were worth the traffic and three school zones I had to go to.
